“Bitcrushed SIDergy” is both a celebration of the Commodore 64’s legendary SID‐chip and a deeply personal tribute to my older brother, M4st3rBl4st3r. Every pulse, every arpeggio and every echo you hear was born from cassette-tape recordings he made back in the ’90s—and resurrected today through modern tech and careful backups of his original .img files.
As kids, we wired two C64s together: one played the raw SID track, while the other sampled it and spat it back after a 150 ms delay, creating that warm, analog echo in real time. That sonic handshake was our secret handshake—our way of coding brotherhood into music. Though he passed on September 2, 2019 at just 38, his compositions still beam straight into my heart, byte by byte.
Each track on the album revisits those golden afternoons of drawing side-scrolling levels on rolls of wallpaper and recording homemade game-walkthroughs (long before tutorials were a thing). It’s a journey from pure nostalgia to a timeless emotional space, where loss and love coexist in bits and glitches.
